2021 Project Update

Latest Project Timeline

You may have noticed things have really slowed down on the ZoneDetroit project. Due to COVID-19, the project schedule has continued to be impacted. We have put together a revised project timeline. We hope to be able to post draft material for review on this website at regular times throughout the next 6 months or so. Below is what we will be working on in 2021. 

January to February – Draft Zoning Districts (all the revised zoning district standards)

February to March – Draft Use Regulations (new approaches to regulating land uses in the City)

March to April – Draft Development Standards (new parking, lighting and landscape requirements as well as new pedestrian and vehicle access standards)

April to May – Draft Administration and any remaining provisions (how projects will get approved under the new Zoning Ordinance)

June – Draft consolidation and internal review

July – Complete draft of the new Zoning Ordinance ready for public review and comment.

Summer/Winter – Public outreach, revisions and adoption hearings
